Greetings, Alumnae Sisters!
Welcome to the volunteer page for the Alumnae Association for the Philadelphia High School for Girls! Throughout the year, we have many exciting opportunities to volunteer both for the school and the Association.
The school needs volunteers to staff the library, so our girls have a quiet place to study. A decade has passed since The School District of Philadelphia eliminated all full-time librarians due to a lack of funding. The library remained shuttered until 2019, when the Alumnae Association called its members to be present at the school, enabling the library to open at least once a week.
The school also needs Alumnae Ambassadors for its special events and open houses. Our ambassadors are at the frontline for registration and greeting prospective students and their parents and are the first face of the Girls’ High experience. We may be called upon to proctor tests or chaperone trips with the girls.
If you are volunteering in the school, clearances are mandatory. To obtain these no-cost clearances, please visit the School District of Philadelphia volunteer portal.
The Alumnae Association Needs You, Too!
Like the school, the Association also needs alumnae volunteers. Recently, Alumnae Ambassadors operated tables at the Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends event. We had a strong presence at the Granite Run and Plymouth Meeting Boscov’s stores. Our ambassadors sold the discounted guest passes to eager shoppers. Next year we’d like to expand to other stores in Exton, Neshaminy, Wilmington, New Jersey, and Maryland! If you live in those areas, we’d love your help. The Association keeps 100% of every guest pass sold. What a fun and easy way to raise money for the organization!
