CANDIDATES FOR THE AAPHSG BOARD OF DIRECTORS

THREE (3) CANDIDATES TO BE ELECTED TO A THREE-YEAR TERM ENDING IN 2028
ONE (1) CANDIDATE TO BE ELECTED TO FILL AN UNEXPIRED TERM ENDING IN 2027

The three candidates with the highest votes will be seated for the cohort term ending in 2028.
The candidate with the fourth highest votes will fulfill the two-year unexpired term ending in 2027.

NEW CANDIDATES

Gwendolyn Benton (1969/213)

Gwen brings over 36 years of experience in banking and finance, currently serving as Vice President in Capital Markets and Regulatory Compliance Internal Audit at a major international bank. Her leadership extends beyond the corporate sector, having served as Director of Finance and Administration for a 4,000-member church with an operating budget exceeding $4 million. She has also been Chief Operating Officer for a nonprofit community outreach event and is currently the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of The Justice Journey Alliance, a nonprofit organization in Chicago, IL.

Michele B Montes

Michele B. Montes (1993/237)

Michele has been a dedicated entrepreneur for over 18 years as the owner and lead photographer of Michele Bee Photography. With a passion for blending creativity, service, and joy, she operates her studio in Abington, PA, while also teaching photography to high school students. Recently, she expanded her expertise as a travel entrepreneur, curating unique vacation experiences for her clients. Beyond her professional endeavors, Michele is deeply committed to community service. She has served as Judge of Elections in her ward for the past four years, sits on the board at her daughter’s elementary school, and actively participates in Girl Scouts. Additionally, she is a church ministry leader and frequently engages in mentorship and career development through Career Day and alumnae events at Girls' High.

Shana Murph (1995/239)

Shana Murph is the owner of a Philadelphia-based creative services business. A proud graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls (Class 239), she earned a BA in English from Pennsylvania State University. With over 20 years of experience as a professional writer, editor, and proofreader, Shana specialized in nursing textbooks and digital products before launching her own company. Passionate about the arts, she enjoys painting in her free time and is an active member of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.

Tanya O-Neill BSN PsyD

Tanya O’Neill BSN, PsyD, CPC (1983/227)

Tanya, the 2024 Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year (Mega Company), is a seasoned strategist, consultant, facilitator, and certified professional coach. She specializes in helping leaders, teams, organizations, and individual contributors cultivate skills and work environments that drive positive impacts on people, performance, and productivity. Tanya holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership and brings extensive experience in healthcare, leadership development, and DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging). A proud veteran, she also contributed to the stateside efforts during Operation Desert Shield as a United States Air Force nurse.

Natasha Brown, EdD, MSODL

Natasha Brown, Ed.D., MSODL (1997/241)

Natasha holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, cum laude, from Morgan State University, a Master of Science in Organizational Development and Leadership, magna cum laude, from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management with a concentration in Human Resource Development, magna cum laude, from Drexel University.

She spent two years as the Director of Staff Development for the City of Philadelphia, where she designs, manages, and evaluates upskilling programs to help employees transition into high-demand roles in skilled trades, technical fields, and administrative careers. Dedicated to mentorship and leadership, Natasha has served on the AAPHSG Board of Directors since 2024 and actively contributes as a member of the Mentorship Committee.

Joanne Cortese

Joann Cortese (1974/218)

Joann is a retired Chemical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University and is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). She is a seasoned Quality, Environmental Health, and Safety professional with extensive experience in the Chemical, Terminal, and Aviation industries. Since 2022, Joann has served on the AAPHSG Board of Directors and is currently running for her second term. She is an active member of both the Mentorship and Governance Committees, demonstrating her commitment to leadership and organizational excellence.
